Players’ numbers are listed in the rotation order, and each time a team regains serve, they rotate. Substitutions are recorded with the player’s number going in and out, along with the reason for the change, such as injury or strategy.

Timeouts are also noted on the score sheet, indicating when a team calls for a break in play to regroup or disrupt the opposing team’s momentum. Each team is allowed a certain number of timeouts per set.

At the end of each set, the final scores are tallied, and the team with the most points wins that set. The first team to win a designated number of sets (usually three out of five) wins the match.
